Prabowo said Jakarta and Washington had reached a mutual understanding and planned to continue negotiations. The agreement between the two countries reportedly would lead to a reduction in proposed US tariffs from 32 per cent to 19 per cent. The deal was among only a handful reached since the Trump administration announced plans to implement levies on most countries. The US leader had recently set an August 1 deadline for negotiations.
