The deep sea is hard to communicate. It’s dark, remote, and invisible to most of us — making it difficult to show, and even harder to protect. But this new documentary pulls it off so well!
“Nodules” is an 18-minute film directed by Jason Jaacks (jasonjaacks) and featuring journalist Clare Fieseler (clarefieseler) as they follow two scientists whose discoveries could reshape how we think about the deep ocean. One uncovers oxygen production in total darkness. The other revisits the world’s oldest deep-sea mining experiment, with haunting results.
As policymakers debate deep-sea mining this week, these findings are a timely reminder of why we need a precautionary pause on deep-sea mining.
The film is free to watch now, and we really think it’s worth your time. You can check it out through the link in our bio!
