TEXAS A&M CINEMATIC RECAP, PART 3/3 • • • to me, this segment of the recap is what florida gators softball is all about. i could’ve easily skipped ahead to the fourth run in the top of the seventh, but i felt it was important to highlight gabi’s hit for two reasons: 1) it set up the walk to load the bases and then the sac fly to make it a two-run game, and 2) for a freshman to enter the game as a pinch hitter, fall behind two strikes, and then get a hit against one of the best pitchers in the country on the road is no small feat. it speaks to how big time gabi is as a player and - to the recruits watching - how freshman can immediately make an impact on the field at the university of florida. as for kara hammock, i can’t even put into words how awesome her performance was to witness, let alone capture behind the camera. and then to see kara’s teammates and coaches embrace her after that win was so special and visually speaks to the chemistry and culture of florida gat...
