On July 23, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the White House shared the colonial painting American Progress by John Gast β a 19th-century depiction of Manifest Destiny, captioned: βa heritage to be proud of.β The image shows settlers moving west as Indigenous people are forced to flee.
