Portland’s World Naked Bike Ride returned in all its glory last night.
After taking a year off, the ride saw thousands of nude or mostly naked people — and at least double that number of bike wheels — hit the streets of Northeast Portland on Saturday.
The 23-year-old event is ostensibly more than a display of Portland’s famous quirkiness: it’s also a protest for cyclist visibility, body positivity and reduced oil dependency.
Don’t worry if you missed it – Portland will soon see another congregation of au naturale cyclists hitting the streets. On Saturday, Aug. 9 there will be another nude bike ride, which is unaffiliated with the first.
