Learning about the story behind Holi’s colourful powders 🎉 Holi isn’t just about throwing colours; it’s a vibrant tradition rooted in mythology, history, and nature. But why do we play with colourful powders during the Holi celebrations? Legend says the tradition comes from Lord Krishna, who loved playing with colours and mischievously stained them on Radha and the Gopis. This playful act became a symbol of love, joy, and togetherness. Originally, Holi colours (called Gulal) were made from flowers, herbs, and natural ingredients: 💚Green – a sign of new beginnings, created from henna or dried leaves 🩵Blue – inspired by Krishna’s skin tone, derived from indigo plants ❤️Red – symbolising love and fertility, made from hibiscus or sandalwood 💛Yellow – linked to happiness, made from turmeric or marigold Holi is more than colours; it’s an experience. We are thrilled to see our students fully embracing it. #HappyHoli #FestivalOfColours #holi #Students #trinitycollegedublin
