Have you ever noticed the Irish script on Dublin street signs? Known as the cló gaelach, this beautiful part of Irish heritage is sadly disappearing from our streets. Trinity History and Humanities researcher, Dr Nicole Volmering, is leading the way in trying to protect this unique part of history through the CLÓSCAPE project and is looking to the public to help document old street signs. Funded by the Trinity Long Room Hub Research Incentive Scheme, the project will collect photographic evidence of signs, past and present, and reconstruct the historic placement of Irish typeface signs while also preserving existing signage - you can contribute your photos by visiting nicolevolmering.ie/closcape (link in bio) As Ireland is celebrated across the world this weekend, what a great opportunity to recognise small things like this that make Irish culture so unique and special!
