At just 12 years old, China’s Yu Zidi is making waves at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The youngest swimmer in the competition, she made the semi-finals of the 200m individual medley on her international debut.⁣ ⁣ Who is China’s Yu Zidi?⁣ ⁣ Already clocking world-class times, Yu holds the fastest-ever 200m IM for her age (2:10.63) and has posted elite-level times in the 400m IM and 200m butterfly. ⁣ ⁣ Described as “stunning” and “a prodigy” by two global news and sports agencies, she’s drawing comparisons to some of the sport’s greats.⁣ ⁣ Yu took up swimming after visiting a water park during a hot summer with her dad. “I just want to give it my best,” she said, ahead of her semi-final appearance in Singapore.
