🐾 Meet the Sumatran Tiger: Native to the dense tropical forests of Sumatra, Indonesia, Sumatran tigers are the smallest of all tiger subspecies — but don’t let their size fool you. These rare cats are fast, powerful, and perfectly adapted to their rainforest home with darker coats, thick black stripes, and webbed feet that make them excellent swimmers.
With only several hundred individuals left in the wild, Sumatran tigers are listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Their population continues to decline due to habitat loss from palm oil plantations, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, and the loss of natural prey. Every tiger counts — and conservation efforts have never been more urgent.
