The incident happened around 5:45 a.m. July 30 on Alabama Highway 187. The pedestrian, 53-year-old Terri V. Holland, was in the road when she was struck by an SUV driven by a 59-year-old woman from Hodges. Holland was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, but died July 31.
