My mom had an accident earlier this month where she fractured her spine. The ER and hospital stay was a really confusing & anxiety provoking time for our whole family, so I’m sharing this video about everything I learned during my time being my mom’s caretaker and advocate. I’m not making this video out of spite for the hospital, but to help people who may be in a similar situation and don’t know how to navigate being an advocate.
EDIT: I don’t want to take away from how challenging healthcare employees jobs are (including case managers). Instead of saying “don’t talk to the case manager” I should have said “in this particular experience, talking to THIS particular case manager was not helpful”. I respect all healthcare workers and never want to send a negative message about the ones who truly care about patients. The system as a whole is broken and workers also experience negative side effects of working in the system.
