D-Von explained that the iconic line was actually created by Paul Heyman. “Testify actually came from Paul Heyman, because Paul Heyman knew my background of being a preacher’s kid,” he said. Heyman was inspired by D-Von’s real-life parents, who are both reverends, and combined that with the characters of Samuel L. Jackson in “Pulp Fiction” and Mr. T.
