It’s kermitthefrog’s 70th birthday today! 💚 Beloved alum Jim Henson ’60 brought Kermit to life at #UMD. Cutting up his mother’s faded, felt turquoise coat and glueing two halves of table tennis balls on it, Henson created the first version of Kermit while he was a home economics student, kicking off his career in puppetry and television. Kermit has hardly aged a bit, and he’s coming home on May 21 to speak at our main #UMDgrad Commencement ceremony! 🎓 To celebrate, check out some fun Kermit facts.
