Plastic is fuelling a public health and climate crisis... and most of it was never meant to be recycled. Only 9% of plastic ever produced has been. From toxic emissions released near plastic production sites — putting over 50 million people at risk — to microplastics invading our bodies, oceans and food systems, the damage is everywhere. Runaway plastic production is out of control. But we have a chance to stop it. From 5–14 August, nations will meet in Geneva to try to finalise a Global #PlasticsTreaty that could stem the tide of plastic pollution — if they choose courage over compromise.
