On Wednesday, July 30th, Whitney Colbert announced her resignation as the head coach for the women’s ice hockey team at Hamline after four seasons. She will be focusing on her family with the recent addition of their baby girl. A graduate of Trinity in 2014, Colbert began her coaching career the following season as an assistant at Connecticut College for two seasons. She then moved up to Division I taking on a similar role at Union College in 2016, spending two seasons before a small hiatus from coaching. Before joining the Pipers, she spent the 2020-2021 season at the Blake School (MN) with their girls varsity team. In Colbert’s four seasons with the Pipers, she held a 56-44-1 (.554) record with notable achievements. Several players were named All-American under her leadership as well as a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (#MIAC) Player of the Year, a Sheila Brown Award recipient and several All-MIAC selections.
