What the difference between GMO and Selective Breeding? š½ Selective breeding is what humans have been doing for thousands of years, picking the best plants or animals with the traits we like (bigger fruit, calmer cows, better flavor), and breeding them over generations. Itās slow. Itās natural. Itās basically farming with matchmaking. GMOs (genetically modified organisms), on the other hand, are made in a lab. Scientists insert, remove, or tweak genes ā sometimes from totally unrelated species ā to give a plant or animal a new trait. Like making corn thatās resistant to pests or papaya that can survive a virus. Itās about as controversial as a @SYD ad so Iām not telling you what to think. But I do want to help educate folks who may be misunderstanding that not everything is genetically modified in a lab. Many crops have just been improved through natural means of breeding. #GMO #science #plant #education #farm #farmer #crop #food #foodblogger #foodie #educational #didyouknow #funfact...
