Day 3 of Worlds had many surprises Anna Elendt surprised everyone by beating Kate Douglass to the wall by 0.08 seconds, winning gold in the 100m breaststroke. Pieter Coetze swam 51.99 in the 100m backstroke at the World University Games, becoming the eighth man to swim under 52 seconds. Most people thought it was a fluke until he swam 51.85 at the World Aquatic Championships, beating Thomas Ceccon and establishing a new African Record. After a virus almost knocks Team USA out of the competition, Claire Weinstein hits back going 1:54.69 in the 200m Freestyle, a new personal best, and winning the semi-final. For Luca Urlando, competing in the Los Angeles Olympics means everything as his grandfather competed for Italy in the 1984 LA Olympics. In his prelims, Urlando went sub-1:53, but won the semi-final with 1:52.84 to have a chance at winning his first world title.
