SCARPA SAMI Athlete Completes Historic Ascent in Patagonia! ⛰️✨
On 2/13/25, SCARPA SAMI Athlete z.i.v.i.a and her climbing partner star_wench made a historical 2nd ascent (and first female ascent!) of Cerro Chueco in Chile’s Aysén region!
This remote peak was first climbed by Jim Donini & Tad McCrea in 2018, and its North Ridge had remained unrepeated—until now.
Over 4.5 grueling days, the team:
🥾 Hiked 10+ miles up the Río Maiten Valley
🏕️ Established high camp
🧗♀️ Pushed through a 21-hour summit day
“This was an opportunity of a lifetime and a level of alpine climbing I hadn’t imagined myself attempting for years. Huge thanks to SAMI, Angela Hawse, and Jim Donini, who not only shared beta on the route but also supported our logistics in Patagonia.”
SCARPA is proud to support athletes like Maddie and Zivia who are pushing boundaries in the mountains! 🔥
