On the move 🏎️ The first of three lunar roving vehicles deployed on the Moon drove 17.5 miles (28 km) during the Apollo 15 mission in 1971. Astronauts Dave Scott and Jim Irwin (shown here) used the electric vehicle to explore the Moon's surface farther from their landing spot, which allowed them to collect samples from a wider variety of deposits. One of the most significant rocks collected on the mission was the "Genesis Rock," a piece of the Moon's primordial crust formed billions of years ago. The shadow of the Lunar Module "Falcon" is in the foreground. This view is looking northeast, with Mount Hadley in the background. This photograph was taken by NASA astronaut David R. Scott, commander on July 31, 1971. Credit: NASA/David R. Scott #Moon #Apollo #Apollo15 #LunarRover #Artemis #Astronaut...
