Current me is VERY happy that past me snagged a camping permit for one of our favorite wilderness zones and put it on the calendar months before we knew if we’d actually be able to make it happen. While I get outside most days, I hadn’t actually slept in a tent yet this summer until last weekend. I love backpacking (I mean, I literally paused my life for 6 months to thru-hike the PCT), but these days it’s often easier to camp in the van or stick to day missions. Truthfully, life’s been so full lately with work, parenting, and everything in between that if we didn’t intentionally carve out time, we would blink and realize we never went anywhere. Thanks to Grandma, Sam and I got one night away, just the two of us, camped at the base of the mountain we got married on. In a season where we get very little solo time together it felt especially meaningful (even if we did spend half the night talking about our kid haha). As parents, it’s so easy to center everything around your kiddo. But...
