Four years ago, I decided to leave the beautiful state of California and move 1,472 miles away to a state I had never been to. The last four years away from home haven’t been easy; I’ve missed family gatherings, battled homesickness, and even received the call that my grandmother passed away at the beginning of my senior year. Despite all of this, I pushed through, and I wouldn’t change my decision for anything. In these last four years at Prairie View A&M University, I have learned resilience, independence, and the true meaning of community.
