Have you heard of the Rebel Dykes?
In 1980s London, a fierce collective of queer punks, artists, activists and squatters carved out their own space — building a culture that was radical, defiant, and entirely their own. Born from the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camps and fuelled by anti-Thatcher resistance, they took over abandoned buildings, threw wild DIY parties, made zines, played in punk bands, and even abseiled into the House of Lords to fight Section 28. Ignored by mainstream LGBTQ+ history for decades, the rebeldykes have since been immortalised in a powerful documentary — and their legacy still pulses through today’s queer scene.
They weren’t just resisting — they were creating. A community. A movement. A rebellion that refuses to be forgotten.
