A gay makeup artist, who sought asylum in the US from Venezuela but was deported to a prison in El Salvador, has tearfully reunited with his family after being released. Andry Hernández Romero, who entered the US legally in 2024 after escaping anti-LGBTQ+ violence, returned to his hometown of Capcho Nuevo on July 22. He had been held in prison since March.
