Trans women have been banned from competing in most women’s archery competitions in the UK. Archery GB guidance from 2017 allowed trans women to compete, provided they met hormone therapy requirements. That’s now been reversed. PinkNews has seen new guidance from Archery GB, the sport’s governing body, which says only those assigned female at birth can now enter female events. It follows a UK Supreme Court ruling that the Equality Act protects “biological sex”, excluding trans people from single-sex categories. The new rules apply to club and national events, as well as competitions where archers are competing for UK or world records. Archery GB says the new policy complies with the law and will be shared with members later this month. #transrights #lgbtqia #sports #archery #transsports #sports
