Here’s a little known fact about some #EXTREME inspiration. The actual choice of the music we chose to pirate in #ECW is, all false humility aside, a fascinating tale in and of itself. As many fans may remember, we had C.R.E.A.M. on heavy rotation on the 1993 / 1994 programs. But one song / video we never touched was #BringThePain, which was the (in)famous video with scenes brilliantly shot on a New York City bus. The video was so authentic, so raw and real that I felt we could never do it justice. Nirvana’s #SmellsLikeTeenSpirit, Rolling Stones’ #LoveIsStrong, Guns n Roses’ #NovemberRain, were all music videos with integrated ECW footage that we slaved over every frame to make sure we were presenting the most forward-thinking content of its day in our celebrated (and underappreciated) genre of pro wrestling / sports entertainment.
