Did you know Juneteenth marks the day when the last enslaved Black Americans learned of their freedom? On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to deliver the news that slavery had been abolished. Today, we honor Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, as a powerful reminder of Black resilience, achievement and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice. ❤️🖤💚
