A brush fire in Canada was literally sparked by a fish falling from the sky.
On July 30, firefighters in Ashcroft, British Columbia, were called to a small wildfire and power outage, but the cause wasn’t what anyone expected. According to Ashcroft Fire Rescue, the blaze was ignited when an osprey dropped a fish mid-flight, and the airborne seafood struck power lines, sending sparks onto dry grass below.
The fire was quickly contained thanks to nearby ranchers and BC Hydro crews, but not before scorching nearly an acre and knocking out power to the local village.
The suspected cause? A tired bird and an unlucky fish. Officials joked that the osprey may have simply been tired of raw fish and wanted it cooked.
The osprey is still “flying at large.” The fish… not so much. Repost from bayareafirefighter
