Nickelodeon Studios was both a production facility and a theme park attraction operated by the Nickelodeon television network at Universal Studios Florida.
The studio officially opened on June 7, 1990, as “The First World Headquarters for Kids,” attracting young visitors to serve as contestants and audience members for Nickelodeon’s live-action shows. At its peak, the studio employed around 400 people, becoming Florida’s largest production studio and generating $110 million in business for the state by 1994. Over its lifetime, the facility produced more than 2,000 episodes of original programming.
Nickelodeon Studios closed permanently on April 30, 2005, as most production had shifted to Nickelodeon on Sunset in Los Angeles.
