Big trees. Bigger history. 🌳
📍Cathedral State Park is home to West Virginia’s largest old-growth forest, including one of the biggest stands of virgin hemlock in the state. Once the site of the 1882 Brookside Resort, the land was preserved in 1922 by caretaker Branson Haas, who sold it to the state with one condition: the trees stay standing. In 1966, the park was added to the National Registry of Natural Landmarks.
Did you know this much history was hiding in the woods?
