The Tarpon Center Drive seawall project is nearing completion! ๐ŸŒŠ Public Information Officer Lorraine Anderson caught up with Acting City Engineer Jon Kramer to share an update on what makes this project so important. Did you know the seawall isnโ€™t designed to stop storm surgeโ€”but to help keep the intersection at Tarpon Center Drive and The Esplanade open longer during high tide and storm events, so people can evacuate safely? The seawall improvements are paired with a one-way valve stormwater pipe to help reduce backflow and enhance the City's storm response when it matters most. ๐ŸŒ€๐Ÿš™ Plus, reef balls have been installed along the north end of the project, hugging the wall to encourage natural habitat growth and support local fisheries. ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒฑ Tarpon Center Drive has also been restriped to one lane in each direction, with a designated bike lane, improving safety for cyclists and overall flow. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ Stay tuned as we wrap up this impactful project! #reefball #seawall #hurricanem...
