Sri Lankan Migrant Worker Tied to Forklift in South Korea, Sparks Outrage
A shocking video has surfaced showing a 31-year-old Sri Lankan migrant worker bound with plastic wrap and moved around by a forklift at a brick factory in Naju, South Korea. The disturbing footage, filmed in February and released by human rights activists, shows the man being mocked as fellow workers laugh in the background.
The act, allegedly "punishment" for poor brick wrapping, has been widely condemned. South Korea’s President Lee Jae-myung called it a "barbaric violation of human rights" and ordered swift action. The Labour Ministry has launched an investigation into abuse, wage violations and broader treatment of foreign workers at the factory.
Factory officials claimed it was a prank, but activists argue the incident reflects deeper systemic abuse and discrimination against migrant laborers in South Korea.
