This year, USS Constitution and the Italian Navy’s sailing vessel Amerigo Vespucci held a Sailor exchange. Crew members from Old Ironsides traveled to Italy to embark on Vespucci, where they learned sailing skills and traditions from Italian Navy Sailors while experiencing the ship’s rich history. In return, Sailors from Amerigo Vespucci came to Boston for a similar experience with the crew of USS Constitution—working together, learning from one another, and exchanging cultural traditions about naval life and sailing heritage aboard Old Ironsides.
