THROWBACK TO 2015! Ten years ago, on May 18, 2015, USS Constitution entered the 1833 Dry Dock 1 in the Charlestown Navy Yard for its first dry docking of the 21st century. While in dock, Constitution’s stern received repairs, the quarter galleries aft were extensively rebuilt, a new cutwater was installed on the bow, and newly carved trailboards replaced the 1930 versions that decorated the bow. The ship was also up-rigged. The restoration work was completed by the expert craftspeople of the Naval History and Heritage Command Detachment Boston.
