May 8, 1945 — a day the world exhaled. After nearly six years of global conflict, Victory Day for WWII marked the official end of World War II on the European front. As Nazi Germany unconditionally surrendered, celebrations erupted across Allied nations—from Times Square to Trafalgar Square. Today, on the 80th anniversary of this historic moment, USS Constitution and the U.S. Navy honor Victory Day for WWII by hosting a commemorative event aboard the ship. Guest speakers included Consulate Generals from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Canada—joined by consulate staff, their families, and representatives from other Allied nations. Together, we remember the sacrifices, celebrate international unity, and reaffirm our shared commitment to freedom and peace—worldwide. #VictoryDay #WWII #VictoryInEurope #OldIronsides #USNavyHistory #Diplomacy #LestWeForget #OnThisDay #SailingTogether
