Every child deserves a safe place to play and grow—That’s why we’re transforming schoolyards across Oakland, creating safe and joyful environments where students can play, be active, and thrive. So far, we’ve removed or covered over 70,000 square feet of asphalt, replacing it with greenspace, gardens, nature areas, and trees. Why? Because kids deserve more than concrete. 🌳 473 trees planted to provide shade, improve drainage, and help fight climate change. 🌼 22 nature exploration areas and 15 teaching gardens built to spark curiosity and hands-on learning. 📉 Schoolyard temperatures reduced by up to 20 degrees, making outdoor play safer and more comfortable.
