🇭🇷 In the heart of Zagreb, in Tuškanac, basketball in the city was born. In 1947 Branko Volfer and Joso Miloš, the founders of today’s Cibona, accidentally stumbled upon an abandoned tennis court, and converted it into a basketball court.
From humble beginnings, Cibona rose to become a European powerhouse and counts Dražen Petrović as a former player.
For many in Zagreb, Tuškanac holds a special place in their hearts as a symbol of basketball heritage and pride. However, maintenance on the court has not been kept up and the signs of wear and tear are obvious.
The tough conditions didn’t deter the group of ballers who showed up for my run and we played for several hours and all spoke of the meaning of this court.
