President Donald Trump is hosting 100 Purple Heart recipients at the White House on Thursday.
Among the veterans attending, three are service members who mailed Trump their Purple Heart medals following an assassination attempt on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pa.
The Purple Heart is awarded to U.S. military members who are wounded or killed in combat.
A group that represents Purple Heart recipients says that this will be a "historic tribute event” being hosted by Trump.
The National Purple Heart Honor Mission says medal recipients from conflicts including the Korean War, Vietnam War and Operation Iraqi Freedom will be at the event.
