Local boat, barbarabsportfishing got things started with a massive 929.5lb Blue Marlin. To this day, there are only two teams that have won both the WMO and Big Rock, the two most prestigious sportfishing events on the east coast… and dare we say the world 😏 SUSHI and WASTE KNOT. In 1998, the Big Rock purse hit $1 Million for the first time and the Poole family won almost half of that prize for a 564lb Blue Marlin. 26 years later, WASTE KNOT (67’ jarrettbay) made history again at the 2024 White Marlin Open with a 77.5lb White Marlin, winning over $3.7 MILLION DOLLARS! SUSHI won the 2021 WMO with an 85.5lb White Marlin that was weighed on the last day of the tournament, winning $3,238,160.
