Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. smashed a 103.9 mph fastball for a two-run home run off Mason Miller on Tuesday night. It was the fastest pitch hit for a homer since MLB started pitch tracking in 2008. Despite the game-tying blast in the eighth, the D-backs would go on to lose 10-5 in 11 innings. “It was just a great moment. It was loud contact. We know that Mason Miller’s got a big arm. It’s a massive arm, and he’s going to challenge you with it. And I think our hitter was ready,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after the game, per MLB.
