ADDUCTOR HEALTH š§°
-
Why we need to show more love to our adductors:
1. Hip and Pelvic Stability
The adductor muscle group ā including the adductor longus, brevis, magnus, gracilis, and pectineus ā plays a crucial role in stabilizing the hip joint and pelvis, particularly during dynamic movements.
When walking, running, or changing direction, adductors help keep the pelvis level and control leg alignment.
Weak adductors can cause hip drop or compensations that place stress on the knees and lower back.
2. Injury Prevention (Especially Groin Strains)
Adductor strains are one of the most common injuries in sports that involve:
Rapid acceleration/deceleration (e.g., soccer, hockey)
Lateral movement (e.g., basketball, tennis)
Kicking motions
Strengthening the adductors reduces the risk of:
Groin pulls/strains
Hip flexor overuse
Anterior pelvic tilt issues
š Research shows that athletes with low adductor strength (relative to their abductors) are at significantly higher risk for gro...
