When you grow up in a community where people travel primarily for immigration purposes, your desire to travel for leisure, exploration, and self-discovery can be a source of conflict. Your friends and family members may be confused or upset as to why, after they struggled and hustled to make a better life elsewhere, you would leave for destinations that are uncharted and unknown (especially if these places are in the “Global South”/developing nations). But that’s the beauty of evolution, of progress, and of having options. They crawled so you could run... off to foreign lands with unpronounceable currencies, on plane rides with lengths in the double digits.
