As intense and intriguing a final as you could wish for, just when it seemed as if 14 woman Cork had done enough to force a replay, Galway star Carrie Dolan fired over a long range point to edge the contest and deliver a first title since 2021 for Galway and just a fifth ever.
Mairead Dillon (pictured) pilfered a cracking goal in the first half to help Galway into a 1-9 to 0-7 lead at the break as Cork saw Hannah Looney sent off, but the Rebels kept fighting and a superb Orla Cahalane goal in injury time looked to have grabbed the draw.
Galway kept fighting though and they snatched the win with Dolan's free winning it all.
