Incoming Howard University freshman Jehu King is in it for the long haul.
The Jacksonville, Florida native was accepted into Howard’s Humanities & Social Sciences Scholars Program and plans to study political science and economics.
“I’m looking to become a field expert…I want Howard to prepare me to have intellectual and academic growth…I’m looking to become a voice for my community, especially for those who are underrepresented,” King said.
His research interest lies in understanding Black-owned banks and how they impact the economic development of marginalized communities and historically redlined communities.
King also hopes to earn his Ph.D. and a J.D., and he believes he can do all of this through hard work and his Mecca connections.
