“From day one, the University of Alberta has given me a platform for significant personal and professional growth. Coming from Dubai and juggling six courses, a part-time job, volunteering and searching for co-op experiences was initially daunting, but a great lesson in resilience and perseverance. During my co-op placements, my employers empowered me and changed my perspective on my future, all while teaching me to be assertive, professional and reflective about my interactions with people and philosophies. Participating in student groups allowed me to give back to my community and meet who are now life-long friends.
