The Pause Before Play
Is a photo series I created this past semester for my Art Photography class. I set out to tell a different kind of story when it comes to baseball. Rather than focusing on the action, I wanted to evoke nostalgia for the game through light and shadow. My objective was to highlight the quiet and often overlooked details that are often lost in a world of oversaturation.

Each image captures a fleeting moment where shadows deepen and highlights emerge, which invites the viewers to pause and reflect. The darkness in each photo intentionally creates a moody shift. It draws the eye toward what matters most in frame. Allowing the viewer to catch each object and texture seen with light.

Going back to traditional photographs like black and white 35mm film, the viewer senses a timeless atmosphere that goes hand and hand with baseball. The history, quite tension, and the everlasting beauty that is baseball. Through this series, I hope to show that even in the most ordina...
