Machine Head, Bloodstock Festival 2025
REVIEW: It's Saturday night, the sunset is tinging the sky pink, and Machine Head just opened their headline set at Bloodstock with a barn-storming run-through of 'Imperium'.
It doesn't get much better than that, does it?
Well, Robb Flynn certainly feels that way, because he's savouring every moment of this occasion. Cheersing beers, laughing with fans and shredding riffs like there's no tomorrow, there's a carnival atmosphere pulsating around Catton Park.
There's a little something for everyone sprinkled throughout this career-spanning display, encompassing over 30 years of metallic exploration. There's the nu-metal stomp of 'Buzzdozer' and the expansive 'Now We Die', the thrashing euphoria of 'CHØKE ON THE ASHES ØF YØUR HATE' and the desolating weight of 'Locust'. Every chapter receives a nod, delivered with pure heart and soul.
Yet it's in the more sentimental moments that the true measure of what the band represents is shown. 'Is There Anybod...
