Nicola Sturgeon has discussed JK Rowling's views on transgender people in her new memoir 'Frankly'. In the memoir, the former first minister of Scotland claims the Harry Potter author wearing a t-shirt branding her a 'destroyer of women's rights' was a turning point in the discourse over transgender rights. Sturgeon says: “The tactics deployed by some, however sincere their views might have been, suggested there was another agenda at work. There are many examples I could cite, but the one that attracted most attention, not surprisingly, was JK Rowling’s donning of a T-shirt bearing the slogan ‘Sturgeon, destroyer of women’s rights’."
