i’m sure this will be a shock to no one, but, i read another sports romance! this was my first cat sebastian and it hit me directly in the heart. it reads like a loveletter to a sport that may never love you back, during a time when people absolutely would not have had your back. the grief aspect was so soft and made so much sense with this story, and i don’t even know how, but it just felt so perfectly complimentary. something about being a reporter observing from the outside and writing about people living their lives doing what they love while very much not living his own life fully just FITS. and hurts in the best way. i loved mark and all his prickly ways and eddie’s patience with him. i loved eddie’s ability to smile through his struggles, and his ever optimistic heart. just a really tender story here from every aspect. i really enjoyed it! it publishes SO soon, may 7th. you’ll be sad if you don’t pick this one up.
