alison cochrun became one of my instant-buy authors after the charm offensive, and kiss her once for me fully has fully affirmed my decision. cochrun writes in a way that i'd swear she has lived my life as me. her characters are so vivid and relatable to me that it's almost alarming. by the time i was 8% into this book i had highlighted almost a page and a half of dialogue that had made me physically react, usually with laughter and delight (literally, the zooey deschanel line had tears streaming down my face because ME!). fake dating is a top tier trope for me, and this is done so wonderfully. i loved andrew from the beginning and was a bit worried we wouldn’t see much of him if things played out the way i hoped, but the worry was unfounded. he’s a mess in the best possible way, and he and ellie together on the page always had me either cackling or teary eyed. ellie’s relationship with her mom was a real gut punch to me for a lot of reasons, and it was so damned validating to see...
