Amateur photographer Arthur Cofod jr. was on a routine work assignment when the Hindenburg caught fire in Lakehurst, New Jersey. With his Leica III in hand, he instinctively began shooting, capturing a dramatic series of images that would come to symbolize the end of an era in aviation.
His 35mm camera recorded the full course of the disaster, etching these historic moments into our collective memory.
